For the second consecutive week, discussions about events surrounding the killing of George Floyd at the hands of four Minneapolis, Minnesota police officers, and the widespread protests and civil unrest that the killing has spawned, dominated the five most prominent Sunday morning public affairs programs. This left little room for discussions about immigration, refugees, or ethnicity,
Notwithstanding that, however, there were several discussions or references to immigrants or immigration during the June 7, 2020, edition of the top five Sunday morning public affairs programs. Indeed, there were five such discussions or mentions from three different guests on three different programs: former Secretaries of State Colin L. Powell and Condoleezza Rice and current Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson.

Also appearing on the program was General Martin Dempsey (Ret.), the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser (D).
Appearing on the program's "Powerhouse Roundtable" segment were ABC News Senior Congressional Correspondent Mary Bruce, ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl, ABC News Multi-Platform Reporter Rachel Scott and ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas.

The subject of immigration was alluded to by Secretary Rice, who spoke about the difficulties faced by school children who live in homes where their parents do no speak English.

The retired general, former secretary of state, and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called himself a son of immigrants, criticized President Donald Trump's immigration policies and practices, spoke of what people of other nations must think of the United States as a result of those policies, and announced he will support former Vice President Biden for President in 2020.
During his appearance, Secretary Carson spoke of why caravans of immigrants seek to come to the United States.
